"Geev' Um'!

On behalf of the NHCCM Non-Active Paddlers Association, a big-time "Geev' Um'!* to all of our paddlers who are racing in tomorrow's O.H.C.R.A. Championships at Ke'ehi Lagoon Beach Park.

We have been in awe of your teamwork and competitive spirit all season long.

A special hats off to Club Leader & Wahine Head Coach Charlie Thurston, Head Coach Blane Gaison, and Kane Head Coach Cy Kalama and the rest of the coaching staff for their dedication, time, talent, and energy, which made our club's 5th anniversary something really special to remember for years to come.

*For our scores of readers around the globe, the hearty local "Geev' Um'" is said to have been derived from England as in "Give Them Heck Old Chap." An encouragement akin to "When there is no tomorrow," "Give it all you've got." "We've come this far to settle for anything less than giving our best," "There is no turning back now," "Failure is not an option," and "Batten down the hatches," "All for one, and one for all," "Punch it Chewey" (Star Wars), just to name a few.

"The Last Hurrah"

Crew,

To our many paddlers both active and inactive, we invite you to the 2007 O.H.C.R.A. Championship Regatta which will be held this Sunday, July 22nd, at Ke'ehi Lagoon Beach Park.
At 7:30 am, a very special program will be held both on and off the water to celebrate and honor an extraordinary waterman and faithful servant of GOD Mr. Mike Tongg.

Join us, as we close out another GOD-filled, and action-packed Hawaiian outrigger canoe regatta paddling season.

Aloha,

Uncle Hut

A big mahalo to Coach Clay for trailering the Aloha to Brent Bixler's Canoe Repair Shop in Waimanalo, and to Jorge, Ed, and Lono for helping to lighten the load. The Aloha will be ready for pick-up on Thursday, likely in the morning, although we don't know for sure just yet. More information to follow, and a crew of paddlers to help carry her home would be a blessing. Mahalo, Uncle Hut

"Paddler Muscle Needed & A Tribute To Mike Tongg"

Crew,

Just got off the phone with Coach Clayton, and he requests that paddlers who are available to help carry canoe meet tomorrow morning (7-17/Tuesday) at the Waimanalo Jack-In-The Box at 9:30 AM (sharp).

  • 9:15 - 9:30 AM: Meet in the parking lot adjacent to the Waimanalo Jack-In-The-Box.
  • 9:30: Coach Clay arrives, we saddle up and convoy to nearby Brent Bixler's, and carry the Aloha into his canoe repair shop.

For those of you who have never had the pleasure, it's a lot of fun to see canoes in various stages of being built and/or repaired.

Before leaving for Oregon today, Charlie and Kathy asked us to let you know that there will be a special memorial presentation in honor of our brother Michael Tongg before the start of this Sunday's O.H.C.A. Championship Races at Ke'ehi Lagoon. We are all encouraged to turn out en masse to celebrate the life of this incredible gentleman. The commemorative t-shirt which is sold every year at the O.H.C.R.A. Championship Races will also have a special tribute to Mike printed on it. Memorial services will be held during the weekend of August 11-12 (more information to follow as it becomes available).

God Bless You,
